It’s officially spring now. I thought people might like suggestions about places to visit for time outdoors. We have wonderful parks throughout Mecklenburg County and nearby in other counties as well. I think in the coming weeks I will highlight some of these great places that you may want to visit.
McDowell Nature Preserve is about as far away from Davidson as you can be and still be in Mecklenburg County. It’s located off NC Highway 49 near the South Carolina line. You can get there on I-77 or I-485. It’s on Lake Wylie and you’ll find 1130 acres of forested land, a Nature Center, a campground, playgrounds and more. It’s worth the visit. There are walking trails, picnic tables and shelters with grills. The picture above is the beaver pond.
On a recent warm late winter day I visited and took a walk. I enjoyed seeing the beginning of spring budding of trees, the birds, a beaver pond, and much more. I hope you’ll consider visiting this lovely nature preserve. You can check out more information by going to www.parkandrec.com.
